چکیده

The suboesophageal ganglion (SOG), which connects to both central and peripheral nerves, is the primary taste-processing center in the Drosophila’s brain. The neural oscillation in this center may be of great research value yet it is rarely reported. This work aims to determine the amount of unique information contained within oscillations of the SOG and describe the variability of these patterns. The approximate entropy (ApEn) values of the spontaneous membrane potential (sMP) of SOG neurons were calculated in this paper. The arithmetic mean (MA), standard deviation (SDA) and the coefficient of variation (CVA) of ApEn were proposed as the three statistical indicators to describe the irregularity and complexity of oscillations. The hierarchical clustering method was used to classify them. As a result, the oscillations in SOG were divided into five categories, including: (1) Continuous spike pattern; (2) Mixed OPEN ACCESS Entropy 2015, 17 6855 oscillation pattern; (3) Spikelet pattern; (4) Busting pattern and (5) Sparse spike pattern. Steady oscillation state has a low level of irregularity, and vice versa. The dopamine stimulation can distinctly cut down the complexity of the mixed oscillation pattern. The current study provides a quantitative method and some critera on mining the information carried in neural oscillations.

Application of Wavelet Neural Network in Forward Kinematics Solution of 6-RSU Co-axial Parallel Mechanism Based on Final Prediction Error

Application of artificial neural network (ANN) in forward kinematic solution (FKS) of a novel co-axial parallel mechanism with six degrees of freedom (6-DOF) is addressed in Current work. The mechanism is known as six revolute-spherical-universal (RSU) and constructed by 6-RSU co-axial kinematic chains in parallel form. First, applying geometrical analysis and vectorial principles the kinematic...

Morphology and Histology of Lyonet's Gland of the Tropical Tasar Silkworm, Antheraea mylitta

The morphology and histology of Lyonet's gland in the second to fifth instar larvae of Antheraea mylitta Drury (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) are described. Each of the paired silk glands of this silk worm were associated with a Lyonet's gland. The paired Lyonet's glands were located on the ventrolateral sides of the esophagus, close to the subesophageal ganglion. Whole mount and SEM observations r...

Neuronal projections and putative interaction of multimodal inputs in the subesophageal ganglion in the blowfly, Phormia regina.

In flies, the maxillary palp possesses olfactory sensilla housing olfactory receptor neurons (ORNs), which project to the primary olfactory center, the antennal lobes (ALs). The labellum possesses gustatory sensilla housing gustatory receptor neurons (GRNs), which project to the primary gustatory center, the subesophageal ganglion (SOG). Using an anterograde staining method, we investigated the...

Central projections of sensory systems involved in honey bee dance language communication.

Honey bee dance language is a unique and complex form of animal communication used to inform nest mates in the colony about the specific location of food sources or new nest sites. Five different sensory systems have been implicated in acquiring and communicating the information necessary for dance language communication. We present results from neuronal tracer studies identifying the central p...

Entropy generation analysis of non-newtonian fluid in rotational flow

The entropy generation analysis of non-Newtonian fluid in rotational flow between two concentric cylinders is examined when the outer cylinder is fixed and the inner cylinder is revolved with a constant angular speed. The viscosity of non-Newtonian fluid is considered at the same time interdependent on temperature and shear rate. The Nahme law and Carreau equation are used to modeling dependenc...
